Linkin Park Information: In 1996 Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, and Rob Bourdon, three friends from Agoura High School, founded a band then called Xero. The Californians soon recruited Joe Hahn, Dave Farrell, and vocalist Mark Wakefield, but lack of early success prompted Wakefield and Farrell to leave (Farrell has since returned). After spending considerable time searching for a vocalist, the band changed their name to Hybrid Theory and finally found a replacement for Wakefield in Chester Bennington. In 1999 the band changed its name again, this time to Linkin Park, an homage to Santa Monica’s Lincoln Park, and the following year they released their breakthrough album, Hybrid Theory.
